The French Cinema Festival in Vallarta

This Tour was created in 1996 by the French Embassy in Mexico, Cinepolis, Cinemas Nueva Era and the French Alliance in Mexico, with the purpose of promoting French cinema and creating a new cinema audience, hungry for culture and the French language.

This year´s edition will present seven French movies in more than 50 cities around the country. The tour will be take place in Puerto Vallarta from September 30th to October 9th presenting four movies in our city with different schedules for everyone. The movies will be shown at Cinepolis, located at the Soriana on Francisco Villa very close to the new Macroplaza.

Hereafter is a brief description of the selected movies for Vallarta:

- L'amour fou – Yves Saint Laurent life

This moving documentary chronicles the life of Yves Saint Laurent, his partnership with Pierre Bergé and their decision to auction off a lifetime of precious art and objects.

- Et soudain tout le monde me manqué (“And suddenly I miss everyone”)

The title of the movie is the reason that emotionally unstable Eli, the main character, gives for stopping his career as a touring jazz musician to become a textile dealer in the Paris Sentier garment district.

- Ma part du gateau (“My piece of cake”)

After finding herself unemployed, a factory worker decides to go to Paris to look for work. After finding a job as a maid for a very wealthy mind bringing her in contact with people who live a life of luxury and an unexpected twist changes the way she feels for this man.

- Le Nom des Gens" ("The Names of Love")

This hilarious yet at times tragic movie shows the racial, ethnic and religious issues, politics, identity and immigration, problems that have overwhelmed France in the modern times.

This is truly a unique opportunity to experience a different aspect of Puerto Vallarta – the cultural one.
