Altruism in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta’s warmth and beauty attracts many who adopt Puerto Vallarta into their lives.  Motivated by a true sense of community and a want to help the neediest of the city’s residents, individuals have decided that collectively they can really make a difference.

Well-established non-profit Becas Vallarta is an example of an organization whose impact is far-reaching and significant. Becas Vallarta grants scholarships to over 300 students who have excelled academically.  Becas’ support of these students is not a one-time donation rather they continue to provide financial support throughout each student’s scholastic career.

The International Friendship Club (IFC) began in 1985 as a social group with a handful of Americans and Canadians. The IFC quickly grew into a charitable organization. Through fundraising and charitable donations, the IFC focuses, quite literally, on putting smiles on the faces of children through its Cleft Palate Program.

Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza (R.I.S.E) shelters children under 14 who are either orphaned or victims of abuse. R.I.S.E has positively changed the lives of these under-privileged children through both monetary contributions and through the love that they impart to these wonderful kids.

Our four-legged friends are also well-represented in Puerto Vallarta’s altruism, most notably through the local SPCA, the PURR Project and MexPup.  These organizations focus on caring for abandoned animals and finding them a loving home through the adoption process.

One of the most visible charities in the Bay, P.E.A.C.E effortlessly incorporates a variety of causes under their organization’s umbrella. Community advocacy, animal protection, environmental causes and women’s education are just a few of the areas that P.E.A.C.E covers.

Altruism in Puerto Vallarta is a long and growing tradition which showcases the true community that the city has become.

Puerto Vallarta’s residents and visitors unite in the spirit of community through small and larger acts, making the area a warm and giving place to live.
