Continue to explore the Mexican Riviera

As we continue, we arrive to Punta de Mita, which used to be the destination of the huichol’s tribe pilgrimage during their crop ceremonies. Nowadays, Punta de Mita has become one of the most popular destinations in Riviera Nayarit for its beautiful white sand beaches, tropical flora and award winning gastronomy. It is also home to two golf courses designed by acclaimed designer, Jack Nicklaus, with astonishing views of the Pacific. Punta de Mita is considered as Mexico´s premiere luxury golf and spa vacation destination and is the ideal place to be if what you are looking for is luxury and privacy.

Lovers of outdoor activities and wildlife can also find multiple activities around this area. Marietta Islands, considered as an ecological sanctuary, is famous for its coral reefs and colorful marine life, including giant mantas. It is a marvelous place for scuba diving and fishing.

Sayulita home to surfers and an artist community from all over the world is also worth a visit. The town has grown considerably through the years and we can now find a variety of restaurants and activities without losing its bohemian and relaxed character.

San Francisco or colloquially called “San Pancho” is a little town north of Sayulita with beautiful long beaches and home of La Patrona Polo Club. A world-class venue for the lovers of this sport but where you can also enjoy fine dining and live music.

If you have more time or you live close by, you should visit San Blas and La Tovara National Park. San Blas is a fishing town with numerous beaches and rich cultural heritage.La Tovara, a protected area , known for its mangrove forest reserve, bird sanctuary with almost 250 species of birds, crocodiles and turtles, is according to the World Wildlife Fund “one of the most important habitants for birds in the Pacific and is home to 80% of the Pacific migratory bird populations”.

Mexcaltitán is a small island close by with the reputation for being the legendary “Aztlan”, place of birth of the Aztec culture.
