Costa Careyes is the magical place of Costalegre

Costa Careyes is known to be a shelter where, year after year, sea turtles come to lay their eggs. A record of more than 100,000 eggs from three different species has been collected, subsequently releasing 75,000 hatchlings. Biologists are responsible for the conservation and care of this endangered species.

Numerous activities can be found in Costa Careyes, such as fishing, snorkeling tours, horseback riding tours, sun bathing bike riding, golf, surfing, kayaking and even shopping and polo in the Costa Careyes Polo Club (opened in 1989 and with more than 40 horses to rent).

The gastronomy in local restaurants is based mainly on fresh seafood. Some of these restaurants have their own private beach and a good idea is to spend the day enjoying the delicacies while taking a dip in the beautiful sea.

The weather during July to September is a little bit hotter than the rest of the year; however the existing breeze helps to diminish this intensive heat.

Gian Franco Bignone, the creator of Costa Careyes, wanted to create a gated community where only a few could take advantage of the benefits of this area along with the beautiful scenery of the coast.

Fortunately part of his vision was accomplished without going to the extreme of making it private. Costa Careyes is currently a community living mainly from tourism.

Costa Careyes is the ideal place to relax, enjoy the sea, the sun or simply to indulge in a series of beautiful landscapes. Although it seems a bit far away from urban civilization, is at the same time close to some of the major cities of Jalisco, making it easier and faster to access this area.
