What's the Meter: Taxis in Banderas Bay

They often have colorful blankets in the back seat and a statue or portrait of a patron saint in the front where you would expect to find a meter.  And taxi drivers are generally quite interested to have a friendly chat with you on the way to your destination in English, Spanish or, when all else fails, a combination of Spanglish and sign language.

So how do you know how much the taxi fare is to your destination?  The city is split into zones and one zone, for example from the Icon or Peninsula in the Hotel Zone to downtown Puerto Vallarta, costs 40 pesos.   The best way to know how much it will cost to get where you’re going is to check and set a price directly with your taxi driver before getting or with your Luxury Beach concierge .

At the Puerto Vallarta airport, you will find airport taxis which will have a higher rate but are the only taxis authorized to pick up passengers at PVR.  You can purchase a voucher from taxi booths with the zones and fares posted inside the airport or simply approach one of thetaxis parked outside the Arrivals area.  You may pay in American dollars or pesos and the fare must be paid as you exit the airport.

Your Luxury Beach concierge can verify taxi fares and arrange for pick-up service so that you can have an easy ride anywhere in Banderas Bay.

Taxis in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit are a little bit different than in other parts of the world.

Should you ever hava problem with a taxi driver you can report it here: www.taxisafepv.com or by calling 066.
