Mastering Mexican Cooking

And though you’ll find some of Mexico’s best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, learning to master the flavors of Mexican cuisine in your own kitchen means that you can have a taste of Banderas Bay with you anywhere in the world.

Local’s favorite, La Luna Restaurant, which also has a charming bar and deli, offers popular cooking classes from owner and executive chef, Miriam Flores.  Le Cordon Bleu trained Chef Flores, demonstrates to her students an ever-changing array of traditional and updated Mexican favorites.  Group cooking classes held at La Luna include a 6-7 course meal with appetizer, main course and dessert, a glass of wine, bread making, and a recipe booklet for approximately $63 USD per person.  Or Chef Flores can do private, in-home cooking classes for around $74 USD per person.

El Arrayan, renowned for their authentic Mexican flavors, also offer cooking classes in the winter months.  Classes include breakfast, instruction, take-home recipes, an embroidered apron, lunch and a glass of wine or cocktail for $95 to $110 USD depending on the menu of the day.

And the upcoming XVIII Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit International Gourmet Festival, from November 8 to 18, is a fantastic opportunity to learn from some of the most esteemed chefs in Mexico.  Gourmet cooking demonstrations, wine and cheese tastings, chef’s tables and gourmet “safaris” will treat diners and aspiring chefs to the finest in culinary tastes and techniques.
